Hi! We’re Becca and Ali, a sister team from London. We’ve decided to join forces and create a travel blog that gives insight into an array of different trips and travels. Whilst Ali is the more footloose sister, travelling when the urge takes her, Becca is the settled one and keen partaker in couple escapes and family breaks. From backpacking and road tripping to luxury breaks and getaways we hope there’s a bit of something for everyone. Our focus will be on providing quality content. We’re not style over substance. So, watch this space for insight into our worlds of travel.
I’m Becca, a Finance Professional attempting to break the perception that accountants are boring! I live in the suburbs of London with husband Ani and daughter Sienna who was born in March 2017. As a family we live life at 100 miles an hour. We love spending time with our family and friends and have a similar mindset when it comes to travel. I’m obsessive about travel research and love sharing top tips with my nearest and dearest!
I really got the bug for travelling in my early 20s, post uni, when I finally had the freedom to spend my money as I wanted. I’ve never done any extended pieces of travelling; I’ve chosen to use annual leave efficiently, take long weekend trips, make the most of short periods between jobs and maximise maternity leave. I want to demonstrate that it is possible to have adventurous travel experiences when time is limited and that having a young family doesn’t have to signal the end of this!
I love a beach holiday, particularly if it involves a long-haul destination with an extra passport stamp, but always aim to add a twist; a city stopover en route, staying in multiple locations, embarking on a road trip or partaking in some exhilarating activities! These are memories that I will treasure forever. However, I think it’s important to point out that travelling doesn’t have to mean exploring a foreign shore. It can be just as invigorating to explore your own neighbourhood, city, county and country; finding hidden spots, meeting new people and learning more about yourself can be done anywhere.
I’m Ali, a twenty-nearly-thirty-something foodie and keen traveller from London. I first got the travel bug back in 2012 when I took ten weeks off between jobs. Up to that point, I’d enjoyed countless family trips to Greece, staycations galore and the obligatory first girls’ holiday in Europe at 18. I’d never travelled on my own. Never taken a long haul flight. And yet, when the time came I surprised myself, and everyone else, by booking onto three different organised tours with like-minded strangers in Asia, borrowing a backpack and setting off on my first adventure. I haven’t looked back since!
A firm believer in ‘work to live’ not ‘live to work’, my idea of living is always having the next trip in the diary, seeking out new experiences and cultures and eating delicious food along the way. I’m now the proud owner of my very own backpack, alongside a DSLR I’m determined only to use in manual mode, and have embarked on some unforgettable trips, most recently during a career break from the world of HR. I’m a fan of truly authentic travel experiences. Forget getting that cliché Instagram shot, I’m all about getting stuck in, experiencing the good and not so good of every location and telling the stories, and capturing the moments, exactly as they happened.
Watch out for blogs on backpacking highs and lows, whirlwind city breaks and annual cottage weekends plus that little slice of luxury that we all need once in a while. I can’t wait to share my adventures, hear yours in return and maybe even inspire a few to try something new.
