2020 travel plans

2020 travel plans

We know we’re a little late to the table with our travel plans for the new year and decade… 2019 was a hectic year for us both so we’ve only just got around to reflecting on it and thinking ahead to what’s next!

The first year of running our travel blog has been one of ups and downs. We’ve really enjoyed sharing our travel experiences with you and starting to build a collection of stories and memories we can treasure for years to come. It’s also been tough squeezing our blog writing in, what with Becca introducing baby Arthur to the world last summer and Ali finally finishing her professional qualification.

We’re aiming to focus more on spending quality time on the things we love during 2020 and, alongside our amazing family and friends, that includes travel and The Travel Squeeze!

So, here’s a run down of some of the things we have planned for the coming year…

Becca

Being a mum of two, I’ve really embraced the chance to use my maternity leave to explore the world. I’ve been lucky enough to have babymoons in Bruges and Dubai and an epic holiday to the Maldives when Sienna was a baby. So, ahead of my return to work after maternity leave 2.0, my husband and I have decided to take the plunge and head to Australia for an extended holiday*!! Neither of us have ever been and we might be mad going with two little ones. But life is all about adventure and living it to the max!

*We’ve been devastated by the fires that have caused so much loss of life and damage. Along with the rest of the world we hope they come to an end soon.

As ever we like to break up long journeys and make the most of an opportunity to experience another country. Our last stopover destination was Hong Kong. This time we’ll be spending a few days in Singapore – I can’t wait!

Before we jet off, little sis, aka the other half of The Travel Squeeze, has a big birthday coming up. Having enjoyed our last family staycation in Whitstable so much we’re going to do something similar again to celebrate. The location is a surprise so all will be revealed in about 6 weeks!

Once we’re back from down under we’ve got a family wedding in Portugal. I’m really looking forward to spending some time exploring more of this wonderful country. I’ve visited once before and loved my introduction to the place. Plus, the peri peri chicken isn’t bad either!

To round the year off, I’d love to do a relaxing beach break as the winter nights start making their appearance. The reality is that we’ll have to see what the finances and time allows!!

Ali

Compared to Becca, I don’t have any major holidays planned (yet) and I’m already getting jealous! Having said that I’m so looking forward to her Australia stories – it’s a country I’ve visited twice so far and I love it.

I can’t complain too much though as I was lucky enough to go to Riga pre-Christmas before seeing in the New Year skiing again in the French Alps. After my first skiing experience at the start of 2019, I had a bit of a wobble and nearly didn’t go again. I’m so pleased I did and am looking forward to my December trip already!

Next up I’ve got three trips planned in quite quick succession. I’m off on a two night city break to Budapest with my boyfriend to kick start March. I’ve never been before but heard great things – send any recommendations my way please.

April then sees me heading off to my favourite five star Greek island escape with the girls. We’ve decided to give our surprise trip a break this year and go big to celebrate three of us turning 30!

I’m then off on one of my bestie’s hen dos in May. Planning is underway and the destination is locked in but a complete surprise for the bride to be. Let’s just say we’re going ‘camping in Skegness’ for now and I’ll reveal all when we’re back…

Given my big birthday I reckon I’ll look to book a big holiday further afield at some point. Top of the list at the moment is San Francisco. Becca’s already been and I’ve always wanted to. Maybe I’ll follow in her footsteps there while she follows mine in Australia!

We can’t wait to tell you all about how our plans work out. And we’ll keep you posted on the extra trips and travels we’ll no doubt squeeze in along the way!

What are your travel plans for 2020?

Top tip: if you find yourself at a loss for something to do in London, why not sample some gin or indulge in our all time favourite afternoon tea!

I did Hong Kong and Singapore too when I visited Australia – Hong Kong was my absolute favourite. I’ve been back since and can’t wait to go back again!

San Franciso is one of my favourite US cities, been there three times (I do have friends there as well) and the last time I went used it as the jump off point for a road trip that took us to Reno and Lake Tahoe which were both great.
